Approved consistent with SAMHSA's response on 9/29/2003 with the following conditions: (1) Results will not be portrayed as "representative" of private practitioners, but only of the memberships of each of the 4 separate membership organizations that were sampled. SAMHSA shall include a discussion of the coverage of the organizations within the overall profession of private substance abuse practitioners. Generally, estimates will not be made by pooling across the membership organizations, and any estimate produced in this manner will clearly identify coverage limitations as well as potential biases introduced by multiple memberships. (2) SAMHSA will revise the question used to assess the number of clients seen in a week to refer to the specified survey week, instead of a "typical" week, which is used to determine the probability of the client being sampled.
