This collection
is approved for 6 months due to DHS' inability to resolve issues
identified in its review. OMB is providing this grace period so as
not to absorb DHS resources required for the response to Hurricane
Katrina. DHS must resubmit this collection for OMB review and
approval, including an appendix responding ex- plicitly to current
OMB concerns, before the expiration for the 6 month period provided
here. Prior to resubmission, OMB will work with DHS and CIS
leadership to improve CIS' ability to manage its PRA process.
Unresolved issues include large, unjustified, and possibly mis-
calculated changes in burden hours and costs.
