THE HCFA 301C IS USED BY MQC IN THE
IDENTIFICATION OF THIRD PARTY LIABILITY (TPL) RESOURCES. THIS
INFORMATION IS USED IN THE TPL REVIEW TO DETERMINE THE ACCURACY OF
THE UTILIZATION OF THIRD PARTIES AND TO ESTIMATE THE AMOUNT OF
MISSPENT MEDICAID FUNDS. THESE DATA ARE USED BY STATES AND HCFA FOR
CORRECTIVE ACTION PLANNING TO IMPROVE THE MANAGEMENT OF THE
MEDICAID PROGRAM.
