is approved with the exception of the 12 questions relating to the
preferences regarding risks. These questions should be deleted
because they are not central to the purpose of the study. Because
the issue which these questions propose to address is so complex,
it is not likely that this portion of the survey will retriev
reliable data. In addition, the fourth question in the caffeine
portion of the survey should be revised per our discussion and
resubmitted to OMB.

THE FDA CONSUMER SURVEY IS USED TO
TRACK CONSUMER AWARENESS, CONSUMPTION, PROBLEMS, ETC., OF FOODS
REGULATED BY THE AGENCY. THE BU OF THE CURRENT SURVEY ADDRESSES
ISSUES RELATED TO SODIUM CONSUMPTION NEEDED TO ASSES THE AGENCY'S
SODIUM INITIATIVES.
