In accordance
with the Paperwork Reduction Act and 5 CFR 1320 the Peace Corps
"request for information card" is approved thru January 1991. Of
the 3 additional questions Peace Corp proposes to ask regarding
social security number, race and short term volunteers, only the
question on social security number is approved. The question on the
applicant's social security number is approved to allow the
electronic transfer of information from the inquiry file to the
applicants file. Peace Corps has not demonstrated the practical
utility of asking data on race and short term volunteers on the
initial inquiry. Peace Corps may want to ask these questions on the
application form if needed.
