Abstract: OWNERS OF CERTAIN VESSELS THAT ARE REQUIRED TO BE MEASURED FOR TONNAGE ARE GRANTED THE OPTION TO APPLY FOR MEASUREMENT UNDER THE "SIMPLIFIED MEASUREMENT SYSTEM." THE INFORMATION COLLECTION REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS SYSTEM ARE LESS THAN THOSE OF THE FORMAL MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS, THEREBY RESULTING IN REDUCED COSTS TO THE VESSEL OWNER. THE INFORMATION THAT I COLLECTED FOR THIS SYSTEM IS TO CALCULATE THE VESSEL TONNAGES.
