This clearance
request includes a 5-year retention requirement for the records
documenting the entry of articles claimed to be free of duty under
item 800.00 and item 805.00 of the Tariff Schedule of the U.S. This
retention period exceeds the retention period of 3 years specified
in regulations implementing the Paperwork Reduction Act at 5 CFR
1320.6(f). In preparation for extension of this clearance request,
the Customs Service should explain how retention of records t
support claims under the above sections is in the government's
interest and provide information on the frequency of the use of
record retained for more than 3 years.
