THREE MONTHS, OMB HAS REVIEWED APPROXIMATELY NINETY DATA
COLLECTIONS THAT WILL POTENTIALLY BE AFFECTED BY THE CUSTOMS
SERVICE PROJECT TO STREAMLINE AND AUTOMATE THE IMPORT ENTRY PROCESS
-- THE "PAPERLESS" CUSTOMES ENTRY PROJECT. SEVERAL "FAST TRACK"
PROGRAMS WILL BE IMPLEMENTED BY 1990. OTHER PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN
GIVEN A PROGRESS REPORTING SCHEDULE TAILORED TO THE PLANNING AND
DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO RESOLVE OUTSTANDING ISSUES. TO ASSURE A
SMOOTH TRANSITION, APPROVALS FOR EXISTING DATA COLLECTIONS ARE
BEING EXTENDED TO ACCOMMODATE ADDITIONAL PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT.
DURING THE TERM OF THESE EXTENSIONS, OMB WILL MONITOR AGENCY
PROGRESS TO DETERMINE IF OTHER ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED. SEE LETTER OF
5/31/89.

FCC 740 FOR EACH RADIO FREQUENCY DEVICE OF SUBASSEMBLY WHICH IS
IMPORTED INTO CUSTOMS TERRITORY OF THE U.S. THE DATA IS USED BY THE
FCC LABORATORY TO ASCERTAIN WHETHER EQUIPMENT AUTHORIZATION IS
REQUIRED, AND IF SO, WHETHER IT HAS BEEN GRANTED. IF NOT, FCC
NOTIFIES THE U.S. CUSTOMS SERVICE.
