We have approved
this recordkeeping requirement for three years. The approved
requirement, as submitted by the agency, reads, "For fund allotted
to a State for any program year, records must be retained for two
years following the date on which the annual expenditure report
containing the final expenditures charged to such program year's
allotment is submitted to the Department of Labor." This
requirement extends the time that records are to be retained in
order to allow a sufficient period for auditing, and affects
information collections under OMB control numbers 1205-0200,
1205-0211, 1205-0274, and 1205-0277. As the agency submits these
affected collections for OMB review, this recordkeeping requirement
should be incorporated so that this approval number can eventually
be eliminated from the inventory. We have assigned a burden
estimate of 5,800 hours per year for this requirement (100 hours
per respondent) to account for the increased staff time needed to
maintain these records.
