Section 2 of the Railroad Unemployment Insurance Act (RUIA) provides unemployment and sickness benefits for qualified railroad workers. When the RRB determines that an overpayment of RUIA benefits has occurred, it initiates action to notify the claimant and to recover the amount owed the RRB. The collection obtains information needed by the RRB to allow for the repayment of the amount owed by the claimant by credit card, in addition to the customary form of payment by check or money order.
