Approved on the condition, agreed to by NEH, that repeat surveys will not be sent to the same respondents on an annual basis. Consistent with the procedure for other generic clearances of customer satisfaction surveys, NEH may provide OMB with a review copy of individual survey instruments at least 10 working days prior to implementation. OMB will respond to NEH within that time frame with any suggestions for improvements in the survey design or content, and OMB and NEH will then resolve any remaining issues expeditiously. If OMB does not respond within this time frame, NEH may assume no objection and proceed with the survey. No Federal Register notice or detailed supporting statement is required for individual surveys under this generic clearance. NEH may simply provide a brief summary of the intended respondents, goals of the survey and how the information will be used, and burden. If a survey is intended to provide statistically valid information, NEH may provide a brief description of statistical methods to be used, expected response rates, and means of maximizing those response rates; for statistical surveys that NEH chooses not to send to OMB in advance, NEH shall collect and analyze the information to assure statstical validity and reliability. For all customer surveys under this generic clearance that NEH chooses not to send to OMB in advance, NEH shall assure that the eac collection meets the standards of the PRA.

In accordance with the National Performance Review requirements, we are sending our survey to a sample of our customers to determine the quality of our resopnsiveness to their needs. We will evaluate responses to determine program effectiveness. Our customers are our applicants and grantees.
