Abstract: A 50 percent duty exists on equipment purchases for and repairs made to U.S. flag vessels in foreign parts. Arriving at its first U.S. port, the master or owner of a vessel is required to declare and file entry on all equipment, parts, or materials purchased and repairs made outside the United States.
