Terms of Clearance: This ICR is approved retroactive to July 31, 1996 for a period of 24 months from that date pursuant to and subject to OMB's 7/31/96 terms of clearance, which are restated here. Specifically, EPA is approved to conduct the following activities, which in general consist of updating data collected, sampling, and analysis for industries which were surveyed prior to July 31, 1996 by a section 3007 questionnaire: 1. Dyes and Pigments: Survey updates (20 events x 28 hours) and sampling/analysis (10 events x 40 hours); 2. Solvents: survey updates (75 events x 20 hours); 3. Petroleum Refining: survey updates (85 events x 20 hours); 4. Chlorinated Aliphatics: sampling/analysis (14 events x 16 hours). In addition, EPA is authorized to collect facts or opinions through nonstandardized follow-up questions designed to clarify responses to previously approved collections of information, as allowed by 5 CFR 1320.3(h)(9). This approval does not authorize EPA collection of other information previously approved under this OMB control number, except as provided in these terms of clearance. In its last action on this ICR, OMB withdrew and continued the collection at the request of EPA/OSWER. Notwithstanding that action, OMB specified in its terms of clearance at that time that certain specific activities, which are described above, were approved for 24 months. Today's action rectifies the record consistent with OMB's original expressed intent with regard to this ICR.
