This collection is submitted for
revision because PTO proposes to modify the rule regulating this
collection. Currently, the rule requires biotechnology patent
applicants to use a standardized format for submission of nucleic
acid and amino acid sequence information. These submissions are
required by the Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) for examination
and processing of such applications. The PTO proposes to modify the
rule so that applicants can delete unnecessary information, add a
sequence identifier for easier access, and use a language neutral
format for submissions to facilitate filing patent....
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
