The Single Audit Act Amendments of
1996 (Public Law 104-156) and the Office of Management and Budget
(OMB) Circular A-133 require governments and non-profit
organizations expending $300,000 or more in Federal awards to have
an annual audit of their financial operations. The Census Bureau
has been designated the Federal Audit Clearinghouse by OMB. The
Single Audit Questionnaire is necessary to implement the Census
Bureau's responsibilities. The Single Audit Questionnaire requests
state, local governments and non-profit organizations who have not
done so to forward their single audit or clarify their reporting
status.
