The RUF (Reduce Unnecessary Filing)
Program was initiated in 1992. Each year, approximately 72 percent
of the taxpayers contacted through the RUF Program stop filing
unnecessary returns. This has reduced taxpayer burden and been cost
effective for the service. This is in accord with the Service's
compliance initiatives.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
