In response to
terms of clearance set in November of 1997, FSA states in the
current submission that it has no plans to eliminate the voluntary
submission of acreage reports. The agency has been told several
times over the last 18 months that such a collection fails to meet
the requirements of the Paperwork Reduction Act. The agency has not
shown that the voluntary information collected serves either a
program or policy need. In its next submission to OMB, the agency
shall provide to OMB details on the elimination of the collection
of voluntary acreage reports, as described in the November terms of
clearance.
