approved. EPA is encouraged to continue its
cosultation/collaboration with CDC in conducting research on
waterborne disease and its relationship to public water systems, as
called for in Sec 1458(d) of the Safe Drinking Water Act. EPA
should provide OMB a copy of any reports resulting from this
research.

In each community, a representative
from each of approximately 1000 households served by the municipal
water system will be asked to provide monthly health information.
The questionnaire will provide information about development of
illness within the community. Raw water quality will be assessed
concurrently during the study period. Incident cases of illness
will be evaluated on a population level for statistical
associations with raw water quality paramaters. The information
will be used to evaluate the burden of enteric illness associated
with the consumption of municipal drinking water.
