The Envionmental Protection Agency,
Office of Chemical Emergency Preparednedd and Prevention (CEPPO),
proposes to conduct a nationwide survey of Local Emergency Planning
Committees (LEPCs). LEPCs provide local citizens an opportunity to
actively participate in planning for emergency response and
reducing the risk of chemical emergencies. To be judged effective,
LEPCs must be compliant with the major provisions of the Emergency
Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA 1986) and actively
carrying out these resposibilities.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
