collection provisions associated with the NPRM for the ergonomics
program are not approved at this time. DOL is examining public
comment in response to this NPRM. The preamble to the final rule
will address how the agency has addressed comments related to
minimizing the burdenof this collection while maximizing its
utility as well as correctly assessing the burden associated with
the various provisions of the rule.

The proposed ergonomics program
standard is an occupational safety and health standard that will
address the significant risk of work-related musculoskeletal
disorders (MSDs) confronting employees in various jobs in general
industry workplaces. The standard's information collection
requirements are essential components that will assist both
employers and their employees in identifying MSDs, as well as
identifying means to take to reduce or eliminate MSDs.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
