Hospitals participating in the
Medicare program are required to distribute the "Important Message
From Medicare." Beneficiaries receive this document during the
course of their hospital stay in order to be informed or their
rights associated with impending discharge. Being notified when
inpatient hospital care is to be discontinued provided
beneficiaries with the ability to make time-sensitive decisions and
take necessary actions affecting their coverage, payment, and
appeal rights.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
