of this study is to test case definitions of arthritis and the
results shall not be used to draw any broader conclusions about
arthritis. CDC shall inform anyone it shares the data from this

Case definitions of arthritis based on
managed care patients' responses to a phone survey will be compared
to their findings on a standardized history and physical
examination and computerized medical administrative data for the
purpose of seeing if case definitions used for surveillance of
arthritis can be validated.
