The core
measures are approved as a generic clearance. For each grant
program that plans to use the core measures, SAMHSA must submit a
detailed memo describing the population being studied, the methods
that each grantee will be using, the core measures that will be
used, and any other measures not included in the set of core
measures that have been approved that will be used. OMB shall
review this memo and provide comments within 15 working days.

With the assistance of nationally
recognized researchers and evaluators, CSAP is identifying
recommended core measures for priority prevention constructs for
use with different demographic groups. Grantees receiving intial
funding in late FY 2001 and beyond will be expected to use measures
that are appropriate to their prevention intervention provject.
This effort will strengthen accountability by standardizing and
improving the quality of data available across grantees and
programs. There will be an ongoing triennial review of the
literature to identify any new instruments that might
be.....
