Detoxification Treatment of Opiate Addiction Under 21 USC Sec.

The Drug Addiction Treatment Act of
2000 ("DATA," P.L. 106-310, Sec. 3502, 21 USC 823(g)(2) Controlled
Substances Act, "CSA") establishes conditions for physicians to
obtain waivers to permit them to prescribe certain approved
narcotic treatment medications for the maintenance or
detoxification treatment of opioid addiction. DATA establishes a
set procedure for practitioners to obtain waivers. Interested
practitioners are required to submit written notifications to the
Secretary, HHS who is required to determine whether the
practitioner has met the criteria for a waiver within 45 days from
the date of.......
