A survey of blood donors is proposed to obtain valuable information on the motivations and barriers to blood donation in the U.S. There is a decreasing margin of blood availability in the U.S., which threatens the ability of healthcare providers to provide blood products to patients as indicated. This dwindling margin is due to increased demand for blood in medical procedures/therapies and by new donor deferral policies that have been mandated to increase blood safety.
