CMS is seeking approval for the use of
the Certificate of Medical Necessity an administrative transitional
informational form for wheelchair and power operated vehicle
documentation requirements. A wheelchair transition period for
documentation requirements has been implemented and will cease on
April 3, 2006 when the CMS systems and the DMERC standard system
are fully operational. This transaction period will allow the
DMERCs, DMEPOS suppliers and providers and opportunity to update
their claims processing systems in order to properly phase-out the
use of the wheelchair CMN.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
