Subject: DEA information collection 1117-0034

John,
Per our conversation, this is to confirm that the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) did not receive any comments regarding DEA information collection 1117-0034: Collection of Laboratory Analysis Data on Drug Samples Tested by Non-Federal (State and Local Government) Crime Laboratories.

OMB requested that DEA revise question 15 of the Supporting Statement, Reasons for Change in Burden, to provide greater explanation regarding the burden reduction for this collection.  Below please find the revised language for this question:

15.  Reasons for Change in Burden:  The hour burden for this information decreased due to fewer responses being received.  Previously, many states did not have consolidated statewide reporting systems, requiring that DEA collect responses from several laboratories within the same state.  However, as states consolidate their own reporting systems, DEA is able to collect fewer, consolidated, responses from these states, while collecting the same overall amount of data.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact John Solitro at (202) 307-5466 or me at (202) 307-3618.

Thank you,

Michelle
