Subpart I requires that employers perform hazard assessments of the workplace to determine if personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary and to communicate PPE selection decisions to affected employees. Subpart I also requires that employers train affected employees in the use of PPE and provide training under certain circumstances. Employers must document that the hazard assessment and training/retraining have been conducted.
