CIRCUMSTANCES NECESSITATING COLLECTION OF INFORMATION
Because Form 1065-B will be filed electronically for the first time for tax year 2006, a form permitting e-file signature authorization had to be created. Form 8879-B is similar to other forms permitting e-file signature authorization.
USE OF DATA
The information is used to permit general partners or limited liability company member managers to use a personal identification number to electronically sign a Form 1065-B, and, if applicable, consent to an electronic funds withdrawal.
USE OF IMPROVED INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TO REDUCE BURDEN
Starting with the 2006 return, we will offer electronic
filing for Form 1065-B.

Periodic meetings are held between IRS personnel and representatives of the American Bar Association, the National Society of Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and other professional groups to discuss tax law and tax forms. During these meetings, there is an opportunity for those attending to make comments regarding Form 8879-B.
We will publish a notice in the Federal Register in the near future to solicit public comments on this form.
