There are seven service areas associated with the GS-2101 series:

FACTOR 1. TRAINING/EDUCATION.
a. Technical knowledge. Points will be awarded for the successful completion of system theory of
operations requirements in any of the seven service areas. These requirements may be satisfied by either
the appropriate concepts examination or FAA Academy/resident training as identified in the latest edition
of Airway Facilities Maintenance Personnel Certification Program Handbook, Order 3400.3. Two points
will be awarded per service area. List the exam/training course numbers which you claim below:

e. FAA Resident Training. Points are awarded for the successful completion of FAA technical

f. College/University Education. Listing of college or technical institute courses must be submitted
with bid. To receive full point credit, 25 percent of semester hours must involve engineering, physical
sciences, technology, or mathematics; otherwise, one-half credit is allowed. One year of full-time
undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or
university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a
technical school. Assign points in only one option below:

certification, or 1 year of experience, in any of the seven service areas. Four points will be awarded for
one certification or one year experience in any of the following service areas, up to a maximum of 28
points. Credit may be taken only once in each service area.
