This memo explains adjustments reflected in the 83-c form for the above data collection. Several items in the instrument have changed, but these are wording changes only and do not result in a burden change. All changes between the 2005 and 2007 questionnaires are documented below. One question was added which takes approximately 30 seconds, but it is offset by a smaller sample (11,500 students) compared the number projected for the last time the SCS was fielded in 2005 (12,200 students). As a result, there is a net reduction in burden as shown below.

In addition, the percent of these responses collected electronically has changed between the two versions. The SCS to the NCVS is now a fully automated survey, and all responses will be collected either with computer-assisted personal interviews (CAPI) or computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI). In the 2005 version, 60% of the responses were collected with paper and pencil personal interviews (PAPI).
