OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR

Dear Resident:
A few days ago, you should have received a request to participate in the 2007 Census Bilingual
Form Study. The U.S. Census Bureau is conducting this study to help develop new methods
that will make the 2010 Census easier, more convenient, and less costly for taxpayers.
It is important that each household responds. If you have already provided your census
information, please accept our sincere thanks. There is no need to provide your answers again.
If you have not responded, please provide your information as soon as possible.
Your assistance in helping us improve the census is important. Results from the
2010 Census will be used to help each community get its fair share of federal funding.
Thank you.
Sincerely,

Charles Louis Kincannon
Director, U.S. Census Bureau

Information on the 2007 Census Bilingual Form Study:
The U.S. Constitution requires that a Census of the United States be done every
10 years. To prepare for the 2010 Census, we are conducting the 2007 Census Bilingual
Form Study. The law that authorizes the U.S. Census also requires that all households
included in this test respond. Your answers are confidential and protected by the same
law (Title 13, United States Code, Sections 9, 141, 193, and 214). This law protects your
privacy and requires that you furnish the information requested. Only persons sworn
to protect Census Bureau data will have access to the information you
provide — and no one else.
