Evaluation and Program Implementation Surveys – Generic
School Accreditation
OMB Control No. 0704-0437
JUSTIFICATION
Need and Use for Information Collection. DoDEA regulation 2010.1 requires accreditation of all DoDEA schools in order to provide the activity, the military community, and the public at large with an external review of the quality of the educational programs provided to DoDEA students. School accreditation is conducted by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI/AdvancED) and the process includes interviews with parents and students n selected schools in order to gather data, information and evidence of: curriculum implementation, school facilities, and other general school functions. Detailed descriptions for these curriculum and School Operational data collections are found under “Uses of the Information” of the Supporting statement submitted for the generic clearance approved under OMB Control No. 0704-0437.
Use for Information Collection. The information collected is used to: Evaluate adherence to the AdvancED standards; provide high quality feedback in the form of commendations and recommendations; and determine an accreditation status recommendation. DoDEA and NCA CASI/AdvancED do not have current existing data to meet this need.
Information Technology. The interviews will be face-to-face and team members will use computers to collect and synthesize information. The agency disclosure notice and Privacy Notice will be read to participants prior to commencing the interviews.
Respondents, Response Rate, and Burden Hours. Respondents are students and parents/guardians of students enrolled in DoDEA schools. The total of annual respondents is estimated to be 760, those not covered under Title 10 USC 1782 are approximately 3% (n=23). This data collection will be conducted one time only.

Labor Costs to Respondents. The response cost per burden is estimated to be $254 [(13 students ($5.85 x ..75) = $57 + (5 parents ($20.66 x .75) = $77 + (5 parents ($32 x .75) = $120.
Sample, Sample Plan, and Response Rate. The response rate is estimated to be 90% for students and parents/sponsors; sampling does not apply to this collection.
Data Tabulation. Information is synthesized using standard
qualitative methodology to identify patterns, themes, and trends
within schools. The team uses the synthesized information to write
a quality standard narrative, to develop recommendations and
commendations, and to determine an accreditation status
recommendation.
Analytic Considerations. Individual teams will collect and analyze their own data. No demographic information allowing for identification of individuals will be collected.
