Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker Form I-129

Application to Change/Extend Nonimmigrant Status (Form I-539)

Request for Premium Processing Services (Form I-907)

  • USCIS is enhancing the Bi-Specialization initiative beginning with forms I-129, I-539, and I-907 by implementing direct filing instructions so that customers will file directly with the service center that will process their case, based on the place of temporary employment or place of residence.

  • The new direct filing instructions will become effective April 2, 2007, where all Form I-129 and I-539 will be filed directly with the California Service Center or the Vermont Service Center.

  • The Bi-specialization effort will also:

      • Ensure direct filing of application/petition with the service center that will process the case to completion.

      • Ensure that customers receive a receipt notice from the center where the case is filed and will be processed.

      • Streamlining processes for the customer.

      • Facilitating the filing of I-129 for H-1B cap, distributing work between two centers in order to help timing of case filing, data entry of cases, receipt notice generation for the customer.
