MA321T — LUMBER PRODUCTION AND MILL STOCKS
DEFINITIONS AND SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Eastern species — includes species for Eastern
States.
1. Scope of survey
This survey covers sawmills producing lumber, sawed
ties, and timbers from roundwood, whether sawed for
own use, sawed on contract for others, custom
sawed, or sawed for sale.
2. Figures to be reported
Companies operating more than one sawmill are
requested to complete a separate report for each
sawmill operated. However, a combined report may
be filed for operations within the same county if
separate records are not kept for each mill. Report in
Section 2 the number of sawmills included in each
annual report. Do not include those mills sawing for
you on a contract basis, or sawmills for which you do
not pay the wages of the mill hands. If you have not
received a report for each of your establishments,
please call the contact shown on the report form or
write to the U.S. Census Bureau for additional forms.
The following states are defined as Eastern States
