MQ311A — FLOUR MILLING PRODUCTS
(PRODUCTION, STOCKS, AND CAPACITY)
DEFINITIONS AND SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. Scope of survey
Wheat ground for flour — Represents the purchased
weight of wheat ground, including the weight of
foreign material (dockage). Includes the milling of
Canadian wheat in bond. Measured in bushels of
60 pounds.
This survey covers all firms in the United States
operating wheat and rye flour mills.
2. Figures to be reported
A separate report should be filed for each active or
idle flour mill of your company. If you have an idle
mill, please report the maximum quantity of wheat
flour that could be produced in that mill in one day if
it operated 24 hours.
Rye ground for flour — Represents the purchased
weight of rye ground, including the weight of foreign
materials (dockage). Measured in bushels of 56
pounds.
Millfeed — Includes bran, middlings, shorts, and
other milling byproducts intended principally for use
as feed materials.
Please write if you need additional forms.
For each item, report all amounts in the unit of
measure shown in the Reference List. Please note
that some figures should be rounded to thousands.
For example, if you ground 660,020 bushels of
wheat flour, report 660.
Capacity — Represents maximum quantity of flour
that can be produced in a mill in 1 day if operating
for 24 hours. Include the capacity of idle mills until
the mills are reported to be destroyed, dismantled,
or abandoned.
Stocks of flour — Represents mill stocks in all
positions, sold and unsold.
3. Definitions
The product detail for this survey, as shown in the
Reference List, is defined according to standard
nomenclature for this industry.
Production of wheat and rye products — Include the
milling of Canadian wheat in bond.
