Script for obtaining consent from the village leaders

Before any data collection activities take place, the field staff will visit each village and obtain consent from the leaders to visit their communities and to talk to the villagers. Usually, this is done by visiting a village and asking permission to be on the agenda at village assembly meetings, which are attended by the village leadership, villagers and usually take place once a month.

During the meeting the project staff will do the following:

Dear Honorable Chairman,

We thank you for allowing us to visit your village. My name is ___________________ and I work with CARE and CDC. As you have been involved in CBRHP activities in the past, we know each other and you are familiar with our work. We would like to ask for you permission to come back and ask your community to participate in the sustainability assessment exercises and to find out long-term impact of programs such as CBRHP. -Explain the purpose of the visit, assessment activities

-Ask the leadership for permission to work in the village and talk to members of the community

-Offer to answer any questions.
