National Evaluation of Youth Corps
Follow-Up Survey
(TREATMENT ONLY) Hello. My name is __________. I’m calling on behalf of (YOUTH CORPS).
When you enrolled in (YOUTH CORPS), you became part of an important study of Youth Corps. This
study will help us understand what happens to people after their involvement in (YOUTH CORPS). You
may remember filling out a questionnaire when you started the program. We would like to find out what
has happened to you more recently. Although participation in the interview is voluntary, your opinion is
very important to us. Please know that your responses to this data collection will be used only for
purposes of this research. The reports prepared for this study will summarize findings across the sample
and will not associate responses with a specific organization or individual. We will not provide
information that identifies individuals or their districts to anyone outside the study team, except as
required by law. The interview will take about 60 minutes, and we will send you a check for $20 as a
token of our appreciation for completing the interview. May we continue with the interview?
‰ Yes
‰ No

First, just to confirm, did you serve in the (YOUTH CORPS) program in 2006 or 2007?

Notice.

SUMMARY: The Corporation for National
and Community Service (hereinafter the
‘‘Corporation’’), as part of its continuing
effort to reduce paperwork and
respondent burden, conducts a preclearance consultation program to
provide the general public and federal
agencies with an opportunity to
comment on proposed and/or
continuing collections of information in
accordance with the Paperwork
Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA95) (44
U.S.C. 3506(c)(2)(A)). This program
helps to ensure that requested data can
be provided in the desired format,
reporting burden (time and financial
resources) is minimized, collection
instruments are clearly understood, and
the impact of collection requirement on
respondents can be properly assessed.
Currently, the Corporation is
soliciting comments on the proposed
follow-up survey for the National
Evaluation of Youth Corps. This survey
will be completed by individuals 18
months after they were randomly
assigned to participate in either a youth
corps program or a control group. These
individuals completed a baseline survey
at the time of application to a youth
corps program. Many of the youth corps
programs receive all or part of their
funding from the Corporation.
Copies of the information collection
requests can be obtained by contacting
the office listed in the address section
of this notice.
DATES: Written comments must be
submitted to the individual and office
listed in the ADDRESSES section by July
16, 2007.

functions of the Corporation, including
whether the information will have
practical utility;

agency’s estimate of the burden of the
proposed collection of information,
including the validity of the
methodology and assumptions used;
• Enhance the quality, utility, and

other forms of information technology
(e.g., permitting electronic submissions
of responses).
