Abstract: Federal marketing orders (M.O.) may authorize production & marketing research, incl paid advertising under the Ag Mktg Agrmt Act of 1937 (7 USC 601-674), paid with assessments levied on handlers regulated under the 28 M.O. Sec. 501 of the FAIR Act 1996 (amended in 2002) exempted certified organic producers and marketers from paying assessments for marketing promotion, incl paid advertising expenses under specified M.O. To be exempt, eligible certified organic producers & marketers need to meet all specified requirements in the assessment exemption, submit application FV-649 to the applicable committee or board to review
