Analysis of Participant Laboratory Results for the July 2006 Shipment

Dear Participant:

Purpose

The purpose of this letter is to provide you with the report containing the analysis of the laboratory test results reported to CDC by laboratories participating in the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) performance evaluation program conducted in July 2006.

HIV-1 antibody shipment specifics

Participant laboratories received six donor samples. Testing results were provided by 659 (89.1%) of the 739 laboratories participating in this shipment.

Report contents

The enclosed report contains the analysis of the results for enzyme immunoassay (EIA) screening tests, Western blot (WB, a confirmatory test), indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA, a confirmatory test), and “other” tests, (tests types other than EIA, WB, or IFA, such as line or strip assays, microparticle, antigen capture, chemiluminescence, etc.).
