The 2nd R&O imposes two
information collection requirements. First, the NANPA, the Pooling
Administrator, or a state commission may draft a request for an
audit stating the reason for the request, such as misleading or
inaccurate data, and attach supporting documentation. Second,
requests from state commissions for copies of carriers'
applications for numbering resources may be made directly to
carriers. The information collected will be used by the FCC, state
commissions, the NANPA and the Pooling Administrator to verify the
validity and accuracy of such data and to assist state commissions
in carrying out their numbering responsibilities, such as area code
relief.
The number of respondents for
"For Cause" audit requests has decreased from 50 to 5. In addition
the number of State Commission requests for Carriers' Initial and
Growth Numbering Resource Application Materials has increased
slightly, from 2,000 to 2,100. The Commission now believes that
because of the use of sophisticated information technology,
respondents now require only 10 minutes (0.1667 hours) rather than
15 minutes (0.25 hours) to comply with such requests from the State
Commissions.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of
these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked
