INSTRUCTIONS TO ACCESS
THE 2010 DECENNIAL CENSUS
LOCAL UPDATE OF CENSUS ADDRESSES (LUCA) PROGRAM
COMPUTER-BASED TRAINING (CBT)
What is an ActiveX Control?
An ActiveX Control or Active Content is a Microsoft computer script that
interacts with the Windows Operating System to perform a specific task on
demand. Some ActiveX controls downloaded from the Web pose a security
threat to your computer. However, the ActiveX control required for the
LUCA CBT is provided directly by the Census Bureau and therefore, it does
not pose any risk.
How do I start the LUCA CBT?
When you insert the CD into your computer:
1. If you do not have Internet access, the LUCA CBT will start
automatically.
2. If you have Internet access, please follow these steps to launch the
CBT in Internet Explorer:
• Click the CD drive on Windows Explorer.
• Double click AutorunPro. A window will prompt you to install the
ActiveX control.
• Uncheck the box that says, “In the future, do not show this
message.”
• Click Yes to allow the ActiveX Control to run on your computer
and start the LUCA CBT.
Contact the LUCA Help Desk at 1-866-919-5822 if you need assistance.
