SUBJECT: Request to Revise the Expiring Final Performance Report for the

Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs

(GEAR UP) program

The final performance report package of the GEAR UP program expires on August 31, 2008. The Office of Postsecondary Education is requesting approval of the attached revised package.

GEAR UP grantees are required to submit a final performance report within 90 days from the end of their 6-year grant performance periods. The information collected in the final report allows the Department to determine if a GEAR UP grant project is ready to be closed in “good standing” and has satisfied all term/conditions of the grant award or need to remain open for further departmental post-award action.

Further, similar to GEAR UP’s Annual Performance Report, the GEAR UP Final Performance Report is used to collect data addressing the performance of the program on a national level and thereby includes information for the Department to use when reporting outcome data in the GEAR UP Government Performance and Results Act of 1993 (GPRA) performance indicators.

As required, the OMB 83-I and other supporting documents are attached.

If you have any questions regarding this clearance package, please contact, Pariece Wilkins, Program Officer, GEAR UP program at (202) 219-7104.
