Federally-permitted vessels in the
Pacific Coast Groundfish Fishery are required to identify their
vessels by displaying their official number. The number is used by
NOAA, the U.S. Coast Guard, and other agencies for fishery
enforcement activities. Vessel identification requirements are set
forth in the regulations implementing the Pacific Coast Groundfish
Fisheries Management Plan at 50 CFR 660.305 (a), (b), and
(c).
