HAWAIIAN ISLANDS BOTTOMFISH FISHERY

JUSTIFICATION TO CHANGE THE MAIN HAWAIIAN ISLANDS NONCOMMERCIAL BOTTOMFISH LOGBOOK FORM AND INSTRUCTIONS
The Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center has submitted changes to the main Hawaiian Islands
Non-Commercial Bottomfish Logbook Form and Instructions. The orientation of the form was
made landscape instead of portrait in order to make it easier for the fishermen to complete the
forms. In the logbook, when referencing the word "number," the abbreviation was changed from
"No." to "Num." in order to avoid confusion. The species list was updated to include the
relevant species for Hawaiian waters. In the instructions, the last point (number 13) refers to the
return of the logbook to the Fisheries Science Center, and was reformatted into a box to make it
stand out more for the reader.
No new data are being required as a result of these minor changes.
