83-C for 0910-0545 – Health and Diet Survey

In a telephone conversation between CFSAN and OMB, Fumie Griego authorized FDA to amend the current telephone information collection method in 0910-0545 to include the internet. More background information from CFSAN:

“The Health and Diet Survey (0910-0545) is about to go into the field. As you probably recall, it is a telephone survey. Jordan Lin is interested in conducting a small methodological experiment to compare the results from the telephone Health and Diet Survey (HDS) with the results from a protocol that would use the Internet to collect the same information, or rather a sample of it. The experiment would include a sample of only four substantive questions taken from the telephone HDS questionnaire. Jordan estimates that the burden would be 33 hours, 2 minutes for 1,000 respondents each. At the conclusion of the experiment, Jordan would share the results with OMB, which has indicated an interest in the comparison of telephone and Internet surveys.”
