The Federal Family Educational Loan
Program proposed regulations revise current regulations in areas of
program administration. The proposed regulations assure the
Secretary that the integrity of the program is protected from fraud
and misuse of program funds. This request is for approval of
reporting and recordkeeping requirements contained in the attached
proposed regulations related to the administrative requirements for
participating institutions of higher education when Income-based
repayment is provided to a borrower consistent with the proposed
changes to 34 CFR 682.215 in the FFEL Program. The information
collection requirements in these proposed regulations are necessary
to determine eligibility to receive program benefits and to prevent
fraud and abuse of program funds.
