FREQUENTLY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ABOUT THE ACCELERATED BENEFITS DEMONSTRATION

WHAT IS THE ACCELERATED BENEFITS DEMONSTRATION?


The Accelerated Benefits (AB) Demonstration is a special study being sponsored by the Social Security Administration (SSA). The AB Demonstration is looking at how providing immediate health benefits and additional supports to new Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) beneficiaries affects their health, independence, employment, and quality of life. You were selected to participate in the AB demonstration about a year ago.



WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS FOLLOW UP INTERVIEW?


We are very interested in learning about your health care and other experiences since the last time we spoke to you. Comparing your answers to other people’s answers in the study will be very valuable to us. It will help SSA learn how they can provide better services to people with disabilities.



WILL MY INFORMATION BE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL?


Yes. The information we collect from you for this study will be used for research purposes only and will be kept private and confidential to the extent provided by law. The Social Security Administration will never use your information to determine your eligibility for Social Security benefits, the amount of benefits you receive, or your eligibility for Medicare. Your answers will be combined with the answers of other survey participants. Your name will never be used in any reports. Only members of the study team will have information about you. The study team includes researchers from MDRC and Mathematica, and from the Social Security Administration’s Office of Program Development and Research.
