2010 Census TAZ/TAD Program Participant

This email notifies you of the start of the Census Bureau’s 2010 Traffic Analysis Zone (TAZ) Program. The Census Bureau partnership shapefiles needed for delineating TAZs as well as the optional 2010 Traffic Analysis Districts (TADs) are now available for download. The partnership shapefiles, along with a downloadable version of the TAZ MAF/TIGER Partnership Software (MTPS) and all program documentation, are located at the following web address:

To begin, download the program documentation and open the TAZ MTPS Participant Guidelines.pdf. Next, use the instructions in “Installation” section of the TAZ MTPS Participant Guidelines to download the partnership shapefiles for those counties or areas covered by your Metropolitan Planning Office or State Department of Transportation Office to a “TAZ_Layers” folder on your C: drive.

Download the MAF/TIGER Partnership Software (MTPS)

A login window will prompt you to enter a Username/Password. To receive this information, please call 301-763-1099 and ask to speak to a member of the GEO TAZ Team. We will provide you a Username/Password over the phone. After a successful login, return to the Installation section of the TAZ MTPS Participant Guidelines to learn how to install the TAZ MTPS.

IMPORTANT:

A customized setup file is attached to this email. Place this file in the “TAZ_Layers” folder in your C: drive. The TAZ MTPS must have this file in order to create a project.
