SUBJECT: Applicability of the Privacy Act: “Follow-up of Kidney Cancer Patients from the Central European Multicenter Case-Control Study (CEERCC) (NCI)”
I have reviewed the NCI/DCEG submission to OMB requesting approval for the use of the CEERCC Study. I have determined that the Privacy Act will not apply to this data collection which involves the collection of personally identifiable information (name, DOB, sex, residency, medical history, tobacco/alcohol use and treatment, etc.) of non-resident aliens only.
Although the questionnaires will be labeled with a study identification code linked to individual names and merged into an agency database, the Privacy Act does not apply to records pertaining to non-resident aliens.
If you have any questions, please contact my office at (301) 402-6201.
